Many experts are predicting a nice upswing in the housing market across the USA. Some real estate websites are predicting various markets could see as much as 20% home value appreciation and even more. Some of the top spots in the country are those who have faced the largest declines from the previous recession. Fannie Mae puts 2014 median home prices at about $283,000 while they look at 2015 being $298,000 and predict 2016 to go up even further up to $310,000. Forbes estimates real estate prices will rise around 5.5% through December (from a June 2015 article). "In the first part of 2014, prices were up between 10% and 13% year-over-year each month. The Housing Market Seems to be Shifting from a Seller's Market to a Buyer's Market. It might take a year or longer to fully transition but there are many reports out there right now that indicate home prices may have reached their peaks once again. Increasing interest rates for mortgages along with all time high prices have contributed to a decrease in buyers and offers. It has also led to many price decreases in multiple markets. If you are thinking of selling, it might be the best time to do so. If you're planning on purchasing, it may or may not make sense to wait. Nobody knows if prices will decrease or how much they will, but one thing seems likely to many: continued regarding rising interest rates.
